  about "the Power of One'
... we received this letter (below) concerning the work that's being done here by many
riders across Texas.. ya'l can be very proud because you'r not only making a difference for
riders here in Texas.  Outstanding work ya'l  ~Bttrfly

I am not a Texan but I wanted to let you know that your website is very helpful and inspirational. I am an individual (not affiliated with an MRO) who has been searching for a way to contribute to the effort of educating drivers. Your efforts and your site show that you don't have to be part of
a large organization to make a difference.. I am adopting a personal safety program called "The Power of One" referring to the fact that each of us have the power to contribute to the campaign for motorcycle awareness.
Thanks for breaking a trail and sharing what you are doing so that others can follow.  Best regards, Richard  (Portland, Oregon)

                        Share the Road signs...

we know of 286 signs installed in Texas (so far)...
We hope that our shared info & pics from STR presentations & signs installed will encourage more riders to set up a presentation at a City Council meeting to request STR signs in their city to increase motorcycle awareness in their community.  We need to keep working on this project, one city at a time, to help protect Texas riders from inattentive drivers. Contact us anytime for assistance with a STR presentation for your city.

2004 incident near Beaumont, TX ...
Riding north out of Beaumont, TX. yesterday (2-28-04) on US 69 / 96 / 287, I was absolutely amazed to see the big lighted hwy sign (one used for the Amber Alert) to have written on it, "SHARE THE ROAD BE AWARE OF MOTORCYCLES."  The instant I went past the sign the vehicles that had been chasing my rear fender dropped back to a safe distance.    -Joker, Nomad Reporter, Skunk Dots Biker News
